Choral Eisteddfod Recap

Congratulations to our five choral groups who proudly represented the College over the past four days at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. From Year 3 through to Year 12, more than 150 students were involved across a wide range of performances that presented the depth and strengths of our choral program, from hymns to modern works, and serious to light-hearted repertoire, we presented a diverse selection of works.

A special congratulations to our Junior Year 3-4 Choir, who were awarded 2nd Place for their performance of The First Star and Cold Snap. The 75 students on stage displayed an effective blend of voices, clear diction and lovely phrasing, and was a wonderful reflection of the work being done across the program. We are so fortunate to have this as part of our school program, where all students are given the opportunity to experience choir throughout these specific year levels.

We had two new co-curricular choirs debut at this event for the first time. The Junior Performance Choir and the SSC Male Voices, who both presented strongly and made a fantastic impression, helping to further establish äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s presence at this event.

SSC Con Voce and Choir represented the College across six different performances, demonstrating a strong commitment to consistently turning up and representing the school beyond normal school hours. They performed exuberantly, received valuable feedback, and achieved high marks across their sections.

Congratulations and thank you also to our choral conductors and accompanists, Ms Hayley Sugars, and Mrs Kym Troy for their work with the Junior Campus students and to Mr Neil Roche-Kelly and Mrs Lorraine Fuller for their work with our SSC students on stage and Dr Nicole Brownlie for providing piano support in the rehearsal space. The dedication, preparation, and support of this valued and talented group of people continue to make these opportunities possible for our students.

SSC Big Band GYG Tour

"Ms Marangelli, can they do this again at the next break?" HSC student.

The SSC Big Band’s annual GYG Tour was yet another success. Two venues, one day, and a short sustenance stop on the way home — students were living the rockstar life with attentive and appreciative audiences at both performances.

The band performed a 30-minute set at WSC before school, before heading to HSC for a lunchtime concert. The morning outdoor venue was certainly character-building — a very different acoustic environment to what we are used to, combined with sunshine, wind, and all the elements that come with live outdoor performance.

Despite the challenges, the students adapted brilliantly and represented the program with energy and resilience and perhaps an even greater appreciation for the comfort of the band room and indoor venues! It was a tremendous opportunity to share all the work and growth from the year so far and simultaneously inspire the Junior College students. The band should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

Celebrating the individuals – Toowoomba Eisteddfod: Piano and Voice

Congratulations to all the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ students who participated in the piano and vocal sections of the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. It has been inspiring to see so many students embrace the opportunity to perform and represent äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ on their own merits.

A special congratulations to the many students who achieved placings throughout the competition, reflecting the incredible breadth of talent within our College community. We are so proud of every performer for stepping onto the stage and sharing their music in a competitive and public environment.

Congratulations to the following students:

Amina El Attar, Leo Chenu, Poppy Mathews, Miranda Cabahug, Noah Johansen, Divyaa Pathmanaban

JC On the Move

New Junior College Welcome Booklet

To help prepare our students for the exciting move to the new äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Lutheran Junior College, we have created a short booklet for families to read together.

The booklet introduces key aspects of the new campus, including classrooms, play spaces, routines, and what students can expect, while also acknowledging the mix of feelings children may experience during this transition.

We encourage parents and caregivers to take a few minutes to read through the booklet with their children and talk about what they are looking forward to.
