The Week Ahead - Term 2, Week 5
Monday 18 May - Friday 22 May, 2026
From the Head of College
Dear Parents and Caregivers
As we move through the middle of Term 2, it is very affirming to reflect on the activities and learning happening at 溏心vlog免费B站. From our Kindergartens through to the Junior College campuses and Secondary College, school life continues to be energetic and full of opportunities for our students. I need to acknowledge and thank our staff who continue to work tirelessly to provide learning experiences and a supportive environment where every student feels known and valued. I am grateful for the partnership we have with families, as together we support the learning and wellbeing of our young people.
The past few weeks have been filled with classroom learning, a wide range of co-curricular activities, excursions, camps, sporting events, chapel services and assemblies, as well as community gatherings. It has been wonderful to see our students embracing these opportunities with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow.
A significant focus across 溏心vlog免费B站 is the tremendous amount of work taking place in readiness for our community to come together on the Stephen Street campus from the beginning of Term 3. This important milestone truly reflects our 2026 college theme of Celebrating the Journey Together as students, staff and families prepare for this exciting new chapter in the life of the college.
The new buildings and surrounding site are quickly becoming a signature presence on South Street, with many visitors and members of the wider community commenting on how impressive and welcoming the new facilities are looking. It has been exciting to watch the progress unfold and see the vision for the future coming to life before our eyes.
As parents and grandparents, many of us know the joys and challenges of family life. Our daughter, who is raising three energetic boys, often shares stories and asks for advice about navigating the busyness of parenting, school routines and work life. Like many siblings, her two older boys can move very quickly from being the best of friends to driving one another crazy! Recently, she asked about helping her boys 鈥渞eset鈥 during difficult moments and it reminded me of some valuable parenting advice I recently came across in Parenting Toolbox.
In the heat of family life, it can be easy for everyone, children and adults alike, to become overwhelmed. When emotions run high, repeated reminders, raised voices or frustration often don鈥檛 help. Sometimes, what children need most is a chance to pause, calm down and reset. The idea of a 鈥淩eset鈥 is different from the traditional 鈥渢ime-out.鈥 Rather than being seen as a punishment, it is an opportunity for children to regain control of their emotions and behaviour. A reset encourages children to step away to a calm, quiet space, take a few deep breaths and return when they feel ready to rejoin family life positively. Some simple reset steps can include:
- Going to a quiet space
- Closing their eyes or removing distractions
- Taking slow, deep breaths
- Returning once they feel calm and settled
Importantly, these strategies work best when practised during calm moments, not only during conflict. The article also highlighted several simple but effective parenting tools:
- Staying calm and consistent with expectations
- Helping children develop the skills they may be struggling with
- Using fair and logical consequences
- Modelling calm behaviour as adults
- Teaching children respectful ways to communicate
One of the most powerful reminders was that parenting is less about controlling children and more about teaching them how to manage themselves well. Every calm conversation, every patient response and every opportunity to reset helps build emotional resilience and self-discipline over time. As families, we all continue learning together. There is no perfect parenting formula, but supporting our children with consistency, empathy and calm guidance can make a significant difference in helping them grow into capable and resilient young people.
As we head into the second half of the term, I would like to encourage our students to remain focused, organised and connected as we build on what has already been a busy and rewarding term at 溏心vlog免费B站.
Yours in Christ.

Liberation Day
Last Friday was the 8th of May, which you may remember as VE Day, the day World War II ended in Europe. In Germany this day is commemorated as Liberation Day, as the Nazi regime finally capitulated and the horrors it had brought came to an end.
Some 50 million people lost their lives in the war, with the Soviet Union bearing the largest cost (11 million) and 6 million Jewish people were killed in extermination camps, along with millions more in the nationwide concentration camp system, including disabled people, gypsies, gay people, communists and other groups deemed unworthy of life by the Nazi ideology.
The end of this conflict brought us in Australia and generally in the Western world over 80 years of peace and prosperity. It also brought a flood of refugees, including many Jewish people, onto our shores, who contributed to the growth of Australia as a multicultural, inclusive and prosperous community.
Thus, it is concerning to observe a rising tide of antisemitism in many parts of the world, especially since the brutal attack by Hamas fighters on Israeli civilians and the severe Israeli response. We have seen the effects of this antisemitism in our own country. I am not sure if you have been following the sittings of the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion established in response to the Bondi attacks - some of the stories shared by Australian Jewish people and how they are treated by some members of the public are very confronting. Many of them found refuge on our shores from traumatic experiences during the war and after. Now, through no fault of their own, their safety and wellbeing are being threatened.
While, unfortunately, over the course of history, Christians have at times promoted antisemitism, St Paul makes it very clear that this has no place among us. He used the metaphor of ingrafted branches for Gentile (non-Jewish) Christians, whom he sees as the focus of his calling and his mission: If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. (Romans 11:17-18)
Later, he reflects: as far as election is concerned, they (the Jewish people) are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God鈥檚 gifts and his call are irrevocable. (Rom 11:28-29).
This leaves no room for antisemitism among followers of Christ and as a Christian community, we carry the command to bear God鈥檚 love and the Good News of the resurrection of Jesus and all that means into all the world (Matt 22:37-38; 28:19-20).
Ultimately, the freedom we enjoy is God鈥檚 gift to us, to share with all who have made their home here and to defend it as we seek to live together in unity.
Have a blessed week.

Junior College
From the Junior College Directors of Campus
There continues to be great excitement building around our new Junior College, with another busy and positive week across the College community.
Students enjoyed author visits this past week, with many classes engaging in inspiring sessions that encouraged creativity, imagination, and a love of reading. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and excitement these visits generated across the College, with students continuing to talk about the experience well after the sessions had finished.
We are excited to be participating in the Eisteddfod today and throughout the weekend. We thank Ms Sugars and Ms Marangelli for their dedication and commitment to our choir and music program, and we wish all students the very best as they perform and represent our College.
Last week, our Prep students had the opportunity to visit the new Junior College and spend time becoming familiar with their new learning spaces. The students had a wonderful time exploring the environment, asking questions, and beginning to picture themselves in their new classrooms. It was lovely to see their confidence and excitement grow as they explored the spaces together.
An exciting milestone ahead is the arrival of Stage 2 furniture on 1 June. Seeing the spaces continue to come together is creating a growing sense of anticipation as we move closer to opening. Each week, the new campus is feeling more complete and giving students and staff a clearer picture of what daily life in the new Junior College will soon look like.
Families would also have received an email today providing further updates regarding the new build and upcoming preparations for the move. We thank families for their ongoing support, encouragement, and excitement as we continue this journey together.
A reminder to please see the flyer attached in this week鈥檚 TWA regarding our upcoming Come and See event. We encourage families to set aside the afternoon to come and explore the new Junior College spaces with us. This will be a wonderful opportunity to walk through the new environment, connect as a community, and share in the excitement of this significant milestone for 溏心vlog免费B站. We look forward to welcoming our community into this exciting new chapter.
This Saturday, we will gather for our Footsteps Through the Campus event. This occasion provides past students and families with the opportunity to return for one final visit to the campus 鈥 a time for wandering the grounds, reminiscing, reconnecting, and perhaps even seeing old classmates once again. We look forward to hearing stories from the past as we also share in the excitement of our future together 鈥 3 histories, 1 future.
It is a very special season in the life of our College as we honour where we have come from while eagerly preparing for all that lies ahead.
Blessings for the week ahead.

As we reach the midpoint of Term 2, I would like to thank our families for their continued engagement and support across the life of the College. There is always much happening during this busy part of the year, and it has been encouraging to see such strong partnership between home and school.
Thank you to our Years 8鈥10 families who attended the recent subject information evenings. These sessions play an important role in helping students and families understand learning pathways and make informed decisions about future options. Further information and guidance will be shared over the coming term as we prepare for the 2027 subject selection process, ensuring families have clarity and confidence at each stage.
We are also looking forward to our Interhouse Track and Field Carnival on Tuesday, 3 June. This is always a highlight of the school calendar, bringing together healthy competition, House spirit, and community connection. We wish all students the very best as they represent their Houses and encourage families to come along and support the day where possible.
Another exciting event approaching is our Year 6 Arts Immersion Day on Tuesday, 16 June. This experience provides students with the opportunity to work closely with our outstanding Arts team and engage with the foundations that make the 溏心vlog免费B站 Arts program so special. It is a wonderful introduction to the creative opportunities available to students as they move into secondary schooling, and we greatly value the expertise and passion of our Arts staff who make this day possible.
We also celebrate the continued success of our 溏心vlog免费B站 Show Team, which has once again represented the College with excellence on the local show circuit. Both Junior College and Secondary College students have achieved strong results across a range of events, particularly within cattle and poultry categories. Beyond the ribbons and awards (and cold nights!), these experiences develop responsibility, skill, and resilience, and we congratulate all students involved for their dedication.
In the coming weeks, families will receive further correspondence regarding our Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity processes. As digital technologies continue to evolve, it is important that we clearly outline expectations and processes while also sharing insights into how learning, assessment, and teaching practices are adapting in educational contexts. We look forward to partnering with families as we navigate this rapidly changing landscape together.
I would also like to welcome Mrs Tracy Kirby to our teaching staff. Tracy is an extremely experienced educator who has joined our Diverse Learning team. She replaces Mrs Katie Goschnick, who has transitioned into a role within her family business. Katie will be greatly missed, and we are sincerely grateful for the commitment and care she has
shown our students during her time at 溏心vlog免费B站. We ask the community to warmly welcome Tracy as she begins this next chapter with us.
Finally, we are building anticipation for an important milestone ahead. At the start of Term 3, our junior students will move into their new facilities at Stephen Street. This marks a new beginning for our College and represents an exciting step forward in creating contemporary learning environments that support student growth and connection. We look forward to sharing more as this transition approaches and to seeing the many new opportunities this change will bring.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. As always, we appreciate the role families play in shaping a strong, connected 溏心vlog免费B站 community.
Yours in faith,
Mr Jamie Pukallus

Step Back in Time 鈥 History Week at 溏心vlog免费B站
Join us from 18鈥22 May as we celebrate History Week at 溏心vlog免费B站. Students are invited to step back in time and explore the stories, people and events that have shaped our world.
Throughout the week, exciting activities will be taking place in the Quad during Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes, offering a fun and interactive way for students to engage with history beyond the classroom.
As we reflect on the past, we鈥檙e reminded that history is more than dates and facts; it helps us make sense of the present and better understand the future. As the saying goes, 鈥淵ou don鈥檛 memorise history to pass a test, you study it to understand life better.鈥
We encourage all students to get involved and enjoy this enriching celebration of history.

From Year 4 Student to Helping Shape the Future: Angela鈥檚 溏心vlog免费B站 Story Comes Full Circle
When Angela Norley walks through the grounds of 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 Hume Street Campus, she is not just walking through a school.
She is walking through nearly five decades of memories.
The classrooms. The hallways. The familiar feeling of community that has connected generations of students, staff and families. For Angela, this place has shaped almost every stage of her life.
She was there when the campus first opened as Martin Luther Primary School in 1977, beginning as a Year 4 student alongside her three siblings. Her mother taught at the school. Years later, Angela would return as a teacher herself and has now worked at 溏心vlog免费B站, primarily at Hume Street Campus, since 1999.
Few people carry the history of the campus quite like she does.
That is why, as 溏心vlog免费B站 prepares to open its new Junior College in July, Angela understands both the emotion and the excitement surrounding the move better than most.
鈥淚t is bittersweet because there is such a strong history here,鈥 she says.
鈥淏ut this is also a new chapter for 溏心vlog免费B站, and it is going to be something really special.鈥
Opening in July, the new Junior College will bring together students from Prep to Year 6 in one purpose built learning environment designed specifically for junior learners. The new campus has been carefully planned to create a connected and vibrant community where students can learn, grow and belong from their very first years of formal education.
Modern flexible learning spaces, breakout areas, contemporary classrooms and improved access to specialist facilities have all been designed to support the way children learn today while still protecting the warmth and personal connection that families associate with 溏心vlog免费B站.
For Angela, that balance matters deeply.
鈥淭hey look wonderful,鈥 she says of the new spaces. 鈥淭hey are modern, contemporary and open, but at the same time they still feel traditional. They still feel like 溏心vlog免费B站.鈥
As both a teacher and a parent, Angela says the decision to send her own children to 溏心vlog免费B站 came down to something difficult to describe but impossible to miss.
鈥淵ou can鈥檛 really put your finger on it,鈥 she says. 鈥淭here is just a warmth here. A sense of family and belonging.鈥
鈥淚t was my choice for my children because of the people and the atmosphere.鈥
She believes that culture will not only continue at the new Junior College but grow even stronger.
鈥淲e will take that warmth with us,鈥 she says. 鈥淭hat is who we are.鈥
Angela can already see the opportunities the new campus will create for students.
鈥淭he breakout spaces are going to be wonderful because they allow students to work in smaller groups close to the classroom,鈥 she explains. 鈥淭here is so much flexibility in the way teachers can support learning.鈥
She says the move will also improve day-to-day life for families and create stronger connections across the College community.
鈥淭here will be more convenience for families and better access to specialist facilities like the science labs, sporting fields and performance spaces,鈥 she says.
鈥淚t will also help strengthen transitions for students as they move through the College.鈥
For staff, Angela says bringing the Junior College together on one campus will create even closer professional relationships and a stronger sense of teamwork.
鈥淗aving the whole team together will be fabulous,鈥 she says. 鈥淲e are doing this together.鈥
There is also a deeper sense of purpose surrounding the move. Angela believes the opening of the new Junior College is about far more than new buildings.
鈥淚t is not the buildings,鈥 she says. 鈥淚t is the atmosphere and the people that make 溏心vlog免费B站 what it is.鈥
That atmosphere has remained constant through decades of change and growth.
Angela remembers the early days of Hume Street when the school community was small and deeply connected. She remembers families helping wherever they could. She remembers the feeling that everybody belonged.
Now she sees the new Junior College as part of the next stage in 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 story.
鈥淲e are a step in the bigger picture of what 溏心vlog免费B站 is becoming,鈥 she says.
鈥淲e are creating history.鈥
For someone who has grown alongside the school since its very beginning, the moment is not lost on her.
From Year 4 student in 1977 to helping shape the future of 溏心vlog免费B站鈥檚 youngest learners in 2026, Angela鈥檚 story reflects exactly what the new Junior College hopes to preserve and build upon.
Strong relationships.
A sense of belonging.
And a community that feels like family.
鈥淔rom little things, big things grow,鈥 Angela says with a smile.
鈥淎nd this is going to be amazing.鈥
