Community News
The CLC MEGA Band held its first workshop of the year on our College Open Evening for all to see. The ensemble, comprising students from Years 5–12, proved mighty in both sound and numbers, marking the first of three workshops as they prepare a combined repertoire for our Band Extravaganza on Monday, 10 August. It is wonderful to see opportunities like this, where separate campuses come together, allowing students to rehearse and perform as one ensemble. These collaborations already highlight the strength of our Music Performance program across both junior and senior campuses, and we look forward to the even greater opportunities that a single campus will bring.
Parkrun Volunteers Needed
We’re calling on our amazing äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ community to lend a hand at Parkrun on Saturday 23 May at Queens Park. Your support helps make this event a success—and it’s a wonderful way to connect, cheer, and enjoy the morning together.
Let’s show our äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Community Spirit! Students are encouraged to wear their äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ sport shirts, and everyone can top it off with a äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ cap or a äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ supporter cap. Staff members, students, parents and friends—all are welcome.

Australia’s Largest School-Age Concert Band
Sixteen schools, 520 musicians, all performing from memory—this was the scale and excitement of the very first inaugural MEGABAND event held at QSAC in Brisbane on Monday, 30 March.
A bus of our talented CLC music students had an incredible time contributing to and collaborating with like-minded musicians as part of this record-breaking ensemble. Hosted by St John’s Anglican College, the event was a tremendous success and an unforgettable experience for all involved, with the added highlight of stopping for takeaway on the way home.
We look forward to this event returning next year and are excited by the prospect of it growing even further.

JC Playground Playbook
At äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, we believe that the playground is more than just a place to run and play — it is an important space where children learn how to build friendships, practice kindness, and develop social skills in a safe and supportive environment.
To help guide positive behaviour and keep our playground a friendly and fair place for everyone, we will be introducing the students to the JC Playground Playbook. Just like in the classroom, we expect all students to be respectful, make good choices, and treat others with care.
We will be using a simple Green-Yellow-Red Card system to help children understand how their choices impact others and how they can grow from each experience:
🟢 Green Card – Great Choices!
Given when students are kind, inclusive, and helpful — such as inviting others to join a game, showing empathy, or using good sportsmanship.
What happens next: They visit Reception after playtime for a small reward and recognition.
🟡 Yellow Card – Warning!
Given when behaviour needs to improve — such as being too rough, excluding others, or not listening.
What happens next: The teacher will speak with the student after play, record the incident, and provide support as needed. Repeated yellow cards may lead to further guidance or consequences.
🔴 Red Card – Serious Behaviour!
Given for unsafe or unfair behaviour — like hitting, bullying, using inappropriate language, or ignoring a previous warning.
What happens next: The student will go straight to the Reflection Room or Reception, and the Director of Campus will be notified. Parents will be contacted, and if two Red Cards are given within two weeks, the student will lose playground privileges for one day and spend that time with the Director.
This Playbook is designed to support student growth, and to encourage every child to make thoughtful, respectful choices while having fun. We appreciate your support as we work together to create a positive and inclusive playground environment.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Please note, SMS messages through our database have a limited number of characters, so they will always be quite short. Urgent matters will continue to be communicated by phone and detailed matters and requests will continue to be communicated by email.

Hearing from our Old Scholars
Meet Andrew Ferguson, äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ Class of 1990. Andrew describes his journey since school as a mixed bag, filled with hard work, setbacks, resilience and plenty of lessons along the way. From studying and working across Queensland, to owning a business, rebuilding after challenges and raising three children, his story is one of persistence and growth. Today, Andrew works as a Sales Agronomist and has remained connected to agriculture throughout his career.
When reflecting on his time at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, Andrew says the College provided structure, stability and security, with boarding life holding some of his best memories. He still remembers the thrill of finally defeating St Mary's in his final year after years of tough losses. His advice to today’s students is simple and powerful: "Live in the moment. Do not worry about things you cannot control. Be a good mate, friend and classmate. Do your best in everything. "Stories like Andrew’s remind us that success is not always a straight line. It is built through character, resilience and the values formed along the way.
