The Week Ahead - Term 2, Week 2
Monday 27 April - Friday 1 May 2026
From the Head of College
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome back to Term 2. I trust that the recent break provided a valuable opportunity for rest, renewal and quality time with family and friends. These moments are so important for our students, parents and staff. I hope they have allowed each of you to return refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
Thank you for the care, encouragement and preparation you have provided in ensuring that your children were ready for the start of a new term. Your partnership with äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ plays a vital role in supporting both the wellbeing and growth of every student. A special welcome is extended to the new families joining our college community this term. We are delighted to have you with us and look forward to walking alongside you. We trust that you will quickly feel a strong sense of belonging within the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ community.
Our college theme for this year, Celebrating the Journey Together, continues to guide us as we move into what promises to be a significant and exciting term. We are looking forward to the completion of our new Junior College later this term. This is a significant milestone as we prepare for äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾, after 80 years of history in Toowoomba, to come together as a unified Prep to Year 12 College on one campus.
This new chapter represents more than new buildings. It reflects our shared vision for connection, continuity and community across all year levels. As we move closer to this transition, detailed information regarding the transition and connection programs for students, parents, and staff will be communicated in due course.
As we come together as one school, it is worth stating clearly that buildings and resources matter, but they are never the heart of a school. New facilities will inspire, support learning and create wonderful opportunities, but they do not, on their own, shape a young person’s character, sense of belonging or understanding of who they are. That work happens in relationships. It happens in the everyday moments of connection between our staff and students, between peers and across our wider community.
äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBվ’s commitment remains clear that every student is fully known and fully loved and it is in living out this commitment that we will continue to be strongly connected and flourish as a college.
There are many activities, events and excursions happening across the College this term. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the College calendar so you don’t miss any upcoming events. We will continue to keep the äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ and wider community informed through our various communication platforms.
As we wrap up the first week back, please remember that äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ values a strong open-door policy. We are committed to timely, transparent and trusting conversations, face-to-face whenever possible, as we partner with you in your child’s education. I look forward to again engaging with and walking the journey with you in Term 2.
The following quote, by Walt Disney, has resonated with me as we prepare to come together in Term 3:
You can design and create and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes people to make the dream a reality.
Wishing you a safe and rewarding term.
Yours in Christ.

From the College Pastor
Welcome to Term 2! I hope you had a joyful Easter celebration and a restful break from the daily hustle and bustle of school life and are ready for another action-packed term of learning and growing. We are still in the Easter season, which runs for 7 weeks after the event, and reminds us of the impact and importance of the resurrection of Christ.
We begin the term’s worship with ANZAC Day chapels at all campuses this Friday but will also focus on the Easter story as we continue to celebrate our journey together and prepare for the merging of the whole school onto one campus at the start of Term 3. A lot of groundwork is going into that significant move and you will receive more information about all the details as the term progresses.
This year we also celebrate a couple of important milestones: 80 years of äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ and the 60th anniversary since the dedication of our chapel, which was opened on the 24th of April 1966, just before ANZAC Day. I have included a couple of photos from that occasion here.
The chapel was designed to and continues to be the heart of our College – and I am looking forward to be able to worship there with the primary students on a weekly basis from next term! Originally it was a little smaller than today’s chapel, the side wings were added 40 years ago to accommodate the growing student population. The organ was also added later in 1972.
Countless äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ students, staff and families have come together in that space to worship, to celebrate, to share their journeys and be reminded of the one who guides all our journeys and promises to be with us always (Matt 28:20).
As we continue in this joyful and hopeful season of Easter, may your lives be filled with hope and joy, even in the midst of our uncertain world.
Christ is risen!

As we return to äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ for Term 2, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students, families, and staff. The start of a new term is always an exciting time, filled with fresh opportunities and renewed energy. As we prepare for another successful school term ahead, it is important to ensure that we recommit to our daily routines by working together as a community. Our college thrives when we support one another and uphold the standards that make äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ such a vibrant and caring place.
Punctuality
One of the most important aspects of college life is punctuality. The school day begins promptly at 8.25am and arriving on time ensures that students are ready to engage with their learning from the outset. When we start the day together, we build a foundation for success, respect, and responsibility. All students should arrive to school ready to begin learning by 8.25am with Home Class. We ask for family support to ensure your child arrives to school in a punctual manner. If your child arrives late, please have them sign-in through Student Services. Absences are to be communicated via Parent Lounge or alternatively, contact Student Services.
Sign Out During College Hours
For students needing to leave the college during the day, sign-out procedures are essential for safety and duty of care. Notification must be made at Student Services for early departures during college hours. To ensure that everyone is aware of student movement and to maintain safety, students should be accompanied by a family member when signing out This will provide a secure and supportive environmental for all.
Uniform & Appearance Guidelines
Uniform and appearance standards reflect our pride in the college community. Students are reminded to wear the correct uniform each day in alignment with the Student Uniform Guidelines. Families are reminded that Winter Uniform Guidelines are in effect from the beginning of Term 2. Please see below the winter uniform requirements:

Student Diary Expectations
The reintroduction of the student diary this year has been a valuable tool for organising homework, tracking assignments, and communicating with teachers and families. All students are expected to bring their student diary to all classes and use it daily, recording important dates and reminders. Consistent diary use helps to build strong organisational skills and supports students in managing their workload effectively. Families are encouraged to check diaries regularly and engage in conversations about upcoming tasks and events.
Mobile Phone Guidelines
Mobile phones are to be used in accordance with college guidelines, which are designed to minimise distractions and promote positive learning behaviours. Mobile phones are required to be stored in student lockers throughout the day, with no use during school time (except for approved medical requirements). Students should ensure that phones are secured within their lockers as soon as they arrive at school. If phones are found on students during the day, they will be confiscated and stored at Student Reception until the end of the school day. Parents may be asked to come and collect phones for ongoing concerns. At the conclusion of the school day, students should refrain from using mobile phones whilst on college grounds, with the exception that contact for family pick-up may be required. By following these guidelines, students are better able to focus on their learning and engage meaningfully with their peers.
Looking Ahead
Term 2 promises to be a time of growth, achievement, and community connection. I am looking forward to the term ahead, confident that with our shared commitment to routines and expectations, we will continue to make äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ a place where everyone feels valued and supported. I wish you all a wonderful Term 2.
Take care,
Mr Tony Manteufel

From the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement
It has been a pleasure to see our students return happy and rested, ready for all that lies ahead in Term 2. One of the new äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ staff told me they were very impressed by the confidence and manners that students have displayed. It’s something I hear a lot and it reminds me of why people love äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ so much.
Our team has been busy behind the scenes, capturing new photographs that reflect the spirit of our school and the people who make it such a special place. We have also been arranging media stories that celebrate the achievements and contributions of our students. Their dedication deserves to be shared and recognised. You will always find news stories of our students on our website.
This week, it has been exciting to follow the 2026 Arts Tour. Our students have represented the College exceptionally well, making the most of every opportunity and showcasing their talent and confidence.
We have also enjoyed meeting with a number of scholarship applicants and their families. These conversations are always inspiring. It is encouraging to meet young people of such promise and to hear their hopes for the future.
Planning is well underway for our Boarding Experience Weekend from 15 May to 17 May. This will be a valuable opportunity for prospective families to experience the warmth, care and sense of belonging that define boarding life at äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾. Please encourage your friends to consider the weekend if boarding is what they are looking for. You will find all the details and registration forms on our website.
There is a lot to look forward to this term. In the weeks ahead, our community will see, read and hear more about the exciting move to our new Junior Campus. This next chapter will bring fresh opportunities for learning, growth and connection and we look forward to sharing the journey with you. It is a new era and a very exciting one that will connect us all even more.
As always, thank you for your constant support.

JC On the Move
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the Parent Survey, we really appreciate your input and the insights you have shared. We would like to introduce this space as a regular feature, where each week we will respond to some of the questions raised in the survey, as well as any new questions that arise as we move closer to the transition. Our aim is to keep communication open, provide clarity and ensure everyone feels informed and supported throughout this process.
Learning, Classes, and Teaching Continuity
Q: Will students keep their current teachers and classes for the rest of 2026?
A: Yes. The intention for Semester 2, 2026 is to maintain current class groupings and teachers wherever possible to provide stability during the transition. Any future changes will be communicated well in advance.
Q: Will teaching and learning change because of the move?
A: For 2026, the focus is on continuity rather than change. Learning programs, curriculum expectations, and teaching approaches will remain consistent. Opportunities to innovate and refine programs will be considered over time, not during the initial transition period.
Q: Will classes be combined or team‑taught straight away?
A: There is no expectation of immediate changes to class structures in Semester 2, 2026. Any future teaching models will be introduced gradually and with clear communication to families.
Footsteps Through Our Campus – Open Afternoon
Join us for a special opportunity to walk back through time and celebrate the rich history, milestones, and memories of our Junior Campuses before they transition to their new home in Semester 2.
This Open Afternoon invites past and present students, families, staff, and community members to revisit the spaces that have shaped generations of learning and belonging.

Junior College
From the Junior College Directors of Campus
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you and your families had a restful and refreshing Easter break. We certainly have an exciting and very busy term ahead as we continue preparing for our move to our new Junior College, a significant milestone for our community.
This week, our staff had the opportunity to spend time working in the new Junior College space during the Pupil Free Day on Monday. This was a valuable chance for staff to become familiar with the new environment and begin planning how learning and teaching will come to life in these beautiful new settings. Throughout the term, our students will also have opportunities to visit the new buildings, helping them feel confident and excited about the transition ahead. Where possible, we encourage families to take the opportunity to drive past the new Junior College site. Seeing the buildings as they take shape can really help students begin to form a picture in their minds of what their new learning spaces will look like and build anticipation for the move. We know many families have questions about the move, and we encourage you to keep an eye on the JC on the Move section in the coming weeks, where we will continue to share updates and answers to frequently asked questions. Later in the term, there will also be an opportunity for our families to visit the new build and see firsthand the spaces where our students will soon be learning and growing.
Today, our campuses paused for reflection during our ANZAC services. It was heartening to see our students take the time to remember and honour those who served and sacrificed for our country. Remembering the story of what the ANZACS did for us reminds us of our values of courage, compassion, respect, and service.
Looking ahead to Monday, we wish the very best of luck to our students competing in the Central Zone Cross Country. We are proud of the effort and commitment shown by all participants and hope the day is a positive and rewarding experience.
Monday is also an exciting day for our Year 5 students, who will head to Emu Gully for their camp. Emu Gully provides a wonderful setting for students to develop leadership, teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills through shared challenges and shared experiences. This camp is always a highlight and an important part of our students’ leadership journey.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. We look forward to a wonderful Term 2 filled with learning, growth, and exciting new beginnings.

A warm welcome back to our families for the beginning of Term 2. I trust that the Easter break provided time for rest, renewal and connection with family and friends, and a chance to reflect on the core Christian message during this time. While the campus was quieter over the holiday period, it was far from inactive, with a number of wonderful learning and cocurricular opportunities continuing beyond the classroom walls.
One of the standout highlights of the break was our Arts Tour to Sydney. Students and staff returned inspired after an enriching and memorable experience that showcased the very best of creative learning. A particular highlight for this group was time spent at the Australian Theatre for Young People, where students participated in an engaging musical theatre workshop and a playwriting session that challenged them to think creatively, collaborate and perform beyond their comfort zones. The tour also included an invaluable behind-the-scenes visit to Sydney Theatre Company, where students gained a deeper appreciation for the technical craft of theatre production. Seeing how props, costumes and sets are designed and brought to life was a powerful reminder that the magic of theatre relies on many skilled hands working together. The tour concluded with the unforgettable experience of watching The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour—an extraordinary performance in a truly spectacular setting. I commend the students for their enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the tour and thank our staff for their dedication and care.
Our strong tradition of success in agricultural showing also continued over the holidays, with excellent results at the Goombungee–Haden Show. Once again, our Cattle and Chicken teams demonstrated why äçÐÄvlogÃâ·ÑBÕ¾ students are held in such high regard on the local show circuit. Their success is a testament not only to their hard work and commitment, but also to the generous mentoring provided by staff and parents. Thank you to all who support this terrific group of students. We wish them every success as they next compete at the Crows Nest Show on 8-9 May.
As we look ahead, Term 2 also marks an important milestone in our College journey. This will be the final term of Stephen Street Campus as we know it. From Term 3, as the College comes together on one site, we will be known as the Secondary College. This transition brings with it exciting opportunities to further strengthen and grow our K–12 program, while continuing to hold fast to the values that define our community. For now though, it’s business as usual as we continue our focus on fostering an environment where every student succeeds and is deeply cared for.
This term will also see us come together to recognise and celebrate NAIDOC Week during the week beginning 25 May. NAIDOC Week provides an important opportunity to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to reflect on our shared journey of learning, respect and reconciliation. We look forward to engaging in activities and learning experiences that will deepen understanding across our community.
I also encourage families to mark Wednesday, 3 June, in their calendars for our Interhouse Track and Field Carnival. This is always a wonderful celebration of participation, House spirit and community. Parent attendance is always welcome, and who knows – maybe we can get a parent relay team to join our traditional teacher-student race!
I look forward to a busy and rewarding term ahead and thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Yours in faith,
Mr Jamie Pukallus
